This cast iron cookware is made in China and can be used on gas, electric, ceramic, and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven, up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames, nor for use in microwaves.

The porcelain enamel surface eliminates the need to season cast iron, as the glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron at high temperatures between 1200 and 1400°F, creating a bond that is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables. This porcelain enamel interior has a smooth finish that minimizes sticking, promotes caramelization, and resists staining. Although the Dutch oven is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to preserve its original appearance.

The cast iron vessel provides superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating the bottom, sidewalls, and even the lid. The tightly fitting lid seals in moisture, resulting in scrumptious pot roasts, stews, or large batches of beans, while the excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. The stainless steel lid knob is oven safe to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, and the black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron.
